Boulder walls — sometimes called rock walls or rockeries — hold back slopes with big, natural stone and a bold, rugged look that suits Pacific Northwest landscapes. They're a great fit for larger grade changes, erosion control, and properties where a softer, more organic appearance is the goal.
Building a boulder wall right is heavy, precise work. We set each boulder on a compacted, well-drained base, key the stones together and batter the wall back into the slope for stability, and build in drainage behind the face so water moves through instead of pushing the wall out. Sizing and placing each rock takes equipment and experience — both of which we bring to every project.
Boulder walls pair beautifully with natural plantings and stone steps, and they can be tiered up a hillside to reclaim usable space. We handle the excavation, drainage, placement, and finish grading for a wall that looks natural and performs for decades.

Design & Engineering
You get a clear design and a detailed written estimate covering material, height, drainage, and reinforcement — engineered where the height or load requires it, so you know exactly what to expect.
Excavation, Base & Drainage
Our crews excavate and compact an engineered gravel base, set a level leveling pad, and build in drainage — perforated drain pipe and clean gravel backfill — the parts that keep an Oregon wall standing for decades.
Build, Backfill & Finish
We set each course level and true, add geogrid reinforcement where needed, backfill and compact in lifts, cap the wall, and clean the site — then walk the finished project with you.
